CHAPTER 9

The following day Isabel and I didn’t talk until the late evening. She was definitely playing the “who will text first” game. At the time I thought maybe she just wasn’t into me. But I learned it wasn’t that. She was just doing what I was doing. Obviously it feels good when someone texts or calls first in the morning. I only played that game because I didn’t want her to think I was a wimp. The thing is, I never thought she was a wimp for messaging first. I loved it. And she did it most of the time. It was better for her to text because most days she went to work early or was sleeping in when she could. So I didn’t want to bother her until she was available. When I did text her she would be working or sleeping and not reply for hours anyways. That didn’t make me feel so good. On this day my vehicle engine had died. So I was dealing with that. I finally texted her and she didn’t respond right away:
